KwaZulu-Natal National Botanical Garden

The beautiful and tranquil KwaZulu-Natal National Botanical Garden specialises in the conservation of plants from the eastern region of South Africa and of rare and endangered species from elsewhere

The focus of the Garden is to collect, display and promote the conservation of plants of the eastern grasslands, in particular the genera Clivia, Gerbera, Kniphofia and Watsonia. A section of the Garden is planted specifically to attract birds which, along with other diverse habitats, makes the Garden rich in bird life, with over 150 species recorded.

A special feature is the fascinating Useful Plants Garden, displaying plants used culturally by the Zulu people for medicine, craft, food and other uses.

Strelitzia Room Restaurant

Strelitzia Room Restaurant is open7 days a week from 8h00 to 16h00; with an entrance fee of R8.00 if only coming to the restaurant.

Kids party venue hire for parties & functions

The Clivia Hall is available for weddings, birthday parties, annivesaries, workshops, small conferences, talks and meetings. It can accommodate 120 people seated in a cinema style and about 100 in a wedding style. Booking is essential.

* The Lapa
This lapa is ideal for parties and small gatherings. It is situated near the restaurant and children's play area.

* The braai area
A braai area has been opened in the garden, with 5 braai stands. Use of this facility is free - you only pay the normal entrance fee.
